Getting started
What is Liaovo?
Liaovo is a Google Chrome extension that translates WhatsApp Web and Facebook Messenger chats in real time with AI, and translates selected text on any web page.
Which browsers are supported?
Google Chrome on Windows, macOS, Linux and ChromeOS. Other Chromium-based browsers that can install extensions from the Chrome Web Store usually work too.
Is there a mobile app?
No. Liaovo works in the desktop browser only.
How do I sign in?
Enter your email in the extension settings and type the 6-digit code we send you. New accounts are created automatically.
Can I use one account on several computers?
Yes, on up to 5 devices at the same time. Signing in on a sixth device signs out the one you used least recently.
Translation
Which languages are supported?
Incoming messages in almost any language can be translated into 18 languages: English, Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Hindi, Indonesian, Malay, Vietnamese, Thai, Turkish, Russian, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean. Set “My language” in the settings, or choose “Auto” to reply in the language your contact uses.
Are incoming messages translated automatically?
Yes, if “Auto-translate incoming messages” is on. Only messages that scroll into view are translated, which saves credits.
What do the tone options do?
Natural keeps the original tone, Formal / business makes replies polite and professional, and Casual makes them friendly. The tone applies to messages you send.
What is back-translation?
Liaovo translates your translated reply back into your language, so you can confirm it says what you meant before sending.
How accurate is the translation?
Liaovo uses a modern AI language model and the recent conversation as context, which handles slang, short replies and business terms well. As with any translation, check important details such as prices, dates and quantities before you send.
Will Liaovo ever send a message by itself?
No. Liaovo never sends messages. It fills in the translation and you decide whether to send it.
Privacy & security
Do you store my messages?
No. The text you translate, plus a few recent messages for context, is sent to our server and our AI provider to produce the translation, and it is not stored on our servers. We keep usage records such as the time, the number of credits used and the model, without any message text.
Is my data used to train AI?
We do not use your messages to train models. Our AI provider processes them under API terms that do not allow training on customer data by default.
What is stored in my browser?
Your settings, your sign-in, and a cache of recent translations so they load instantly. You can clear the cache in the settings.
Plans, credits & billing
How many credits does a translation use?
Usually 1–2 credits for a chat message, depending on its length. See Pricing for details.
Do unused credits roll over?
Monthly plan credits reset each billing month. Credits from sign-up, top-ups and redeem codes never expire.
How do I upgrade, change or cancel my plan?
Open the extension settings and click “Upgrade” or “Manage subscription”. Billing is handled securely by Stripe.
What is your refund policy?
First purchases can be refunded within 7 days. Renewals are not refunded, but you can cancel any time. See the Refund Policy.
Do you offer invoices?
Yes. Receipts and invoices are emailed after each payment and are available under “Manage subscription”.
