Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-11-06
This Privacy Policy explains how WY Studio LLC (“Liaovo”, “we”) handles information when you use the Liaovo browser extension, the website liaovo.com and related services. In short: we process the text you translate only to translate it, we do not store your messages on our servers, and we never sell your data.
1. Information we process
Text you translate
When you translate something, the extension sends that text to our server, together with a few recent messages from the conversation as context (you can change or turn off the number of context messages in the settings). Our server passes the text to our AI model provider to produce the translation and returns the result to you. We do not store the text or the translation on our servers. The extension only reads chat content to translate it, and only on the sites where it runs (WhatsApp Web, messenger.com, facebook.com) or text you select on other pages.
Account information
- Your email address, used to sign you in with one-time codes and to contact you about your account.
- Your account’s region, language, credit balance and credit history.
Device and security information
- A random device identifier created by the extension, a device label such as “Chrome · Windows”, and the IP address you used to sign up and sign in. We use these to keep you signed in, to enforce the device limit and to prevent abuse of free credits.
Usage records
- For each translation: the time, the type of translation, the number of tokens and credits used, the cost and the response time. Usage records do not contain message text.
Payments
- Payments are processed by Stripe. We receive your Stripe customer ID, subscription status and payment history, but never your full card number.
Website
- liaovo.com does not use advertising or tracking cookies. Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs (such as IP address and pages requested) for security.
2. Data stored in your browser
The extension stores your settings, your sign-in tokens, a cache of recent translations, and the original text of messages you sent through Liaovo (so it can show “Original” under them) in your browser’s local storage. This data stays on your device. You can clear the cache and saved originals in the settings, and uninstalling the extension removes it.
3. How we use information
- to provide translations and run your account;
- to count credits, process payments and send receipts;
- to secure the Service and prevent fraud and abuse;
- to send sign-in codes and important service messages; and
- to understand overall usage and improve the Service, using aggregated usage records.
We do not sell your personal information, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not use your messages to train AI models.
4. Chrome Web Store Limited Use
The use of information received from the Liaovo extension adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We use chat content only to provide the translation feature you request, we do not transfer it except to the service providers needed to provide that feature, and we do not allow humans to read it.
5. Service providers
| Provider | Purpose |
|---|---|
| OpenAI (AI model provider) | Producing translations. Data sent through the API is not used to train its models by default and may be kept for a limited time for abuse monitoring under its terms. |
| Stripe | Payments, subscriptions, invoices and tax. |
| Vultr | Hosting for our servers and database (Japan). |
| Alibaba Cloud DirectMail | Sending sign-in code emails. |
| Cloudflare | Website hosting, DNS and security. |
We may change providers. If a change significantly affects how your data is handled, we will update this policy.
6. International transfers
We are based in the United States, and our providers process data in the United States, Japan and other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
7. Retention
- Message text: not stored on our servers.
- Account, credit and payment records: for as long as your account exists, and afterwards as required for tax, accounting and legal purposes.
- Usage records: up to 24 months, then deleted or anonymized.
- Sign-in codes: stored only as one-way hashes and expire after 10 minutes.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EU/UK, the LGPD in Brazil or the CCPA in California), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To make a request, email [email protected] from the address you sign in with. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
9. Security
We use encryption in transit (HTTPS), hashed sign-in codes and session tokens, restricted access and regular backups. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.
10. Children
The Service is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.
11. Changes
We may update this policy and will change the “Last updated” date above. If changes are material, we will notify you by email or in the extension.
